Blair Privacy Policy

Blair is made by Clear Projects, Inc. ("we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use the Blair app and our website, how we use it, and the choices you have. Using Blair means you agree to it and to our Terms of Service.

The short version

• Blair reads product barcodes and labels and shows you what's inside.
• We collect what you give us (scans, photos, chat, account details) and information about how you use the app, and we use it to provide, personalize, and improve Blair.
• We don't sell your personal information.
• You can delete your account from inside the app.

What we collect

Information you provide.

• Scans and photos. Barcodes you scan and photos you take of product labels.
• Chat. Messages you send in Chat and the replies you receive.
• Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name, your email address (or a private relay address if you choose to hide it), and a sign-in identifier. We never see your password.
• Subscription status. Apple processes payments and tells us whether your subscription is active. We never see your card details.
• Communications. Emails or messages you send us.

Information collected automatically. Device model, operating system and app version, language, device and app identifiers, and how you use Blair, including the screens you view, the features you use, your taps and interactions, and the products you scan, browse, search for, or claim. We use analytics and diagnostic tools to collect this.

How we use it

We use the information we collect to:

• provide and operate Blair, including reading labels, looking up products, generating scores, answering in Chat, showing settlements, and managing your account and subscription;
• maintain and improve our product catalog, scoring, and features;
• develop new products, features, and services;
• personalize your experience;
• understand how Blair is used and measure performance;
• communicate with you about your account, and, where permitted, about Blair and our offerings (you can opt out of marketing messages at any time);
• keep Blair secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our terms;
• comply with legal obligations; and
• create de-identified or aggregated information, which we may use for any purpose.

Who we share it with

We share information with service providers that help us operate Blair, such as cloud hosting, AI processing, analytics, and subscription management. They process information on our behalf under agreements that protect it. Photo mode and Chat use third-party AI services to produce results, and the app lets you know before you first use each feature.

We may also share information with affiliates; in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets; when required by law or to protect Blair, our users, or others; and with your consent.

We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it with third parties for their own advertising.

Settlement claims

Tapping Claim opens the settlement administrator's own website. Anything you enter there goes to them and is covered by their privacy policy. We record which settlements you tell us you've claimed.

How long we keep it

We keep information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including maintaining our product catalog, and as required by law. Information that has been de-identified or aggregated may be kept and used without restriction.

Your choices

• Delete your account from Profile in the app. This removes your account and the personal information associated with it. Information that has been de-identified, or that we need to keep for legal or security reasons, may be retained.
• Camera access can be turned off in iOS Settings. Scanning won't work without it.
• Photo mode and Chat are optional.
• Marketing messages include an unsubscribe option.
• Requests. Email contact@clearprojectsinc.com to ask about the information we hold, or to request access, correction, or deletion. We honor requests as required by applicable law and won't treat you differently for making one.

Children

Blair isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, email us and we'll remove it.

Security

We use encrypted connections and access controls to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Where information is processed

Blair is operated from the United States, and information is processed there and wherever our providers operate. Where the law requires a safeguard for international transfers, we rely on standard contractual clauses or an equivalent mechanism.

If you're in the EU, UK, or another place with data protection laws

Clear Projects, Inc. is the controller of your information. We process it to provide Blair under our contract with you, for our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving Blair, to comply with legal obligations, and with your consent where we ask for it. You may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Email contact@clearprojectsinc.com to exercise them. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Settlements listed in Blair are U.S. legal proceedings and are generally only available to U.S. residents.

California

We don't sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information using the contact below.

Not medical advice

Blair provides general information about ingredients in consumer products. It isn't a medical service. Please don't include health information in photos or Chat.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the current version here and update the date above.
